Nandita Hooda - President (Founder)

Nandita was born into a farming family in a small village in Haryana. Even though her parents had a working knowledge of the world they never got any formal education. Thus, Nandita was a part of the first generation to attend school in her village. She later went to represent the country in Judo Championships held around the world. She has played at Macau, Malta, Minsk, Kazakhstan and Belarus and has been a gold medalist at national and international levels. Concluding her sports career, she joined the police force in Punjab and became in charge of the women’s cell in Mohali. While working at the women’s cell, she helped many women in battling with their problems and educated them on their legal rights. After nine years at the police department, Nandita cleared the bar exam and started practising as an advocate. She has been a social activist for the last 15 years and has worked for women empowerment in rural areas in and around Punjab and Haryana. After having worked as the General Secretary of Haryana Welfare Society For Persons With Speech and Hearing Impairment and Bhartiya Grameen Mahila Sangh Haryana, she started Snehanchal in 2011. Among other awards, she has also been given a certificate of appreciation by the Social Justice & Empowerment Department Haryana for her services rendered in the field of proper implementation of department welfare schemes, awareness & social activities.

 

Rajesh Nandal - Founder member

Rajesh is an educationist, writer and a sportswoman. Being a part of the first literate generation of her village, she believed in the power of education. She has been a teacher all her life and later became the Vice Principal of Model School Rohtak, Haryana. She has written books on physical education and poetry. She is also associated with All India Radio and has collaborated with regional TV shows for the purpose of educating children through storytelling.

 

Pallvi Hooda - Vice President

Pallvi was born and raised in Chandigarh before she moved to Delhi after receiving a 100% scholarship for law school. After graduating she worked as a researcher for a Judge at the Supreme Court of India. She has also been a practising lawyer with special interest in social issues such as dowry deaths, female foeticide, domestic violence and religious violence. She is currently working on a review of the law dealing with sexual offences against children at a research centre at National Law University, Delhi.

Monika Hooda - Vice President

Monika was born into a farming family in Sonepat. She completed her M.A from Maharishi Dayanand University. After completing her B.Ed and M.Ed, she taught as a lecturer in Mahendergarh district of Haryana. She is currently pursuing law. Monika has been associated with Snehanchal from the very start and has relentlessly worked for women empowerment and education.
