Vocational Training
In efforts of creating financial independence among rural women, Snehanchal provides vocational training in tailoring, stitching and embroidery.
Before opening a training centre at any chosen village, a survey is done to establish the number of potential trainees, their interests and their limitations. For those who cannot always be in attendance, raw materials and training are provided at home after a few practicals at the training centre. Many trainees are housewives with no independent income. Acquiring a skill helps them explore opportunities of establishing some financial independence either by collaborating among themselves or with Snehanchal after their certification. Owing to flexible methods of instruction, even illiterate women can acquire new skills.

Distribution of machines, raw material and certificates
Our courses vary from 3 to 6 months and are concluded with the distribution of certificates, raw material and sewing machines. Our certificates help these women in securing jobs. If they want to collaborate among themselves and start their own boutiques, the certification helps them secure loans. The raw materials and sewing equipment provided by Snehanchal also brings down their startup cost. For those who do not end up pursuing this professionally, the machines and raw materials are used for any tailoring/stitching work at home. Many of our trainees stitch their own clothes. They also do it for friends and family. This ability is also enough to inspire confidence to pursue their dreams elsewhere.
